The Burgh Cave Story.....

I have been a sports guy for as long as I can remember—especially when it comes to football. My stepfather still tells the story about how I would refuse to simply carry the garbage bags to the trash can. Instead, every trip to the curb became a football game. Each bag was the ball, the corner was the end zone, and I was running for a touchdown.
Football was never just something I watched. It was part of who I was.

During my high school and college years, I was fortunate to play alongside guys I am still proud to call friends. The bond created through practices, games, wins, losses, and everything that happened away from the field has lasted a lifetime.
Life eventually takes everyone in different directions. Careers begin, families grow, and responsibilities pile up. But when we get back together, it feels like nothing has changed. Within a few minutes, we are laughing, telling old stories, and talking ball like we have been hanging out every weekend.
Those conversations are what make The Burgh Cave special.

They begin with memories from our playing days and debates about our favorite college and NFL teams. Before long, the conversation expands into family, work, fatherhood, mistakes, lessons learned, and the everyday shenanigans of life.
They are the kinds of conversations that happen at the corner of a neighborhood bar, around a pub table, or while sitting in a man cave, driveway, garage, or backyard patio.
That is where The Burgh Cave was born.

Becoming The Burgh CaveAfter hearing a few episodes, some friends from the neighborhood became interested in starting a podcast together. That led to the creation of The Burgh Man Cave.
Before long, we received a legal threat claiming that part of the name was too similar to the name of a local media personality. Rather than waste time and energy fighting over it, we dropped the word “Man.”
The Burgh Cave was born.
For the next several years, we recorded episodes mostly as a hobby. There was little promotion and no real business plan. The purpose was simple: get together with friends, enjoy a few drinks, talk sports, and laugh about life.
It was the same kind of conversation we had always shared—except now we were recording it so we could go back, relive the stories, and laugh all over again.
We continued recording sporadically through 2023. As our children grew older and began doing more of their own activities, we had more time to dedicate to the show. We also began adding new contributors and inviting more friends into the conversation.
Slowly, people started finding us.
Listeners reached out to say they enjoyed the podcast and appreciated the relaxed, genuine style of the show. That support encouraged us to keep building.
Growing the CommunityIn 2023, Harry Psaros, known to many Pitt fans as Pitt Guru, generously joined us for an episode previewing Pitt football. He returned again in 2024, and those conversations helped introduce The Burgh Cave to a larger audience.
In late 2024, GB, Mr. Juanderful, and I began discussing the possibility of taking the next step and producing live shows.
We officially began live podcasting in 2025.
Through my friendship with Harry, I was also introduced to JJ Kitchen, who hosts a great Pitt football podcast. Our first live show was a 2025 Pitt football preview, and it was an incredible experience.
JJ later invited me to join his Sunday conversations about Pitt football, which I was honored to accept.
As The Burgh Cave continued producing live episodes—and as I became a regular part of JJ’s Sunday shows—the support we received was nothing short of amazing.
One of the most meaningful moments came when GB and I were able to produce a local podcast celebrating the brotherhood of our high school football team and the teammates we played alongside.
Those friendships really do last a lifetime.
What The Burgh Cave Is TodayBy 2026, I began to realize that people were connecting with The Burgh Cave for the same reasons we enjoyed creating it.
The Burgh Cave is about honest conversations, football, cold drinks, great friends, and the shenanigans of everyday life.
Our football discussions come from a slightly different perspective than traditional sports media. Many of the guys on the show played the game, coached it, or have spent most of their lives around it.
That does not mean we are always right.
It means we see the game through our own experiences. We talk about preparation, coaching, teamwork, discipline, locker-room dynamics, and what may actually be happening beyond the final score.
There are no manufactured arguments and no hot takes designed only to generate attention.
The people who join The Burgh Cave are not worried about building their individual brands. They are not trying to become television personalities.
They simply want to grab a drink, sit down with friends, and talk ball.
That is The Burgh Cave.
Common-sense sports talk. Cold drinks. Great friends.
